Do you ever just get blown away with a feeling of thankfulness, even for the air you are breathing? I know you don't have everything you want in life! But do you ever just feel content for a moment? Like the feeling of, ... "I don't need anything but what my eyes can see, my ears can hear ... and of course this McDonalds coffee.

Does it ever feel like it's enough that God loves you and that's all you really need? Do you ever escape worry and anxiety over situations in your world? God cares for you! Listen to the birds! They sing about Him all day long. Look at the fields that God has laid before your eyes to see His wonder and splendor.

Life is full of worry and concern. I sat on a bench today and took this photo. I was reminded that quite a few months ago I asked God that whatever amount of time He grants me here in life, that He might allow me to live those days boldly for Him, without worry and without fear. Does that wish resonate deep down in your soul too? Wouldn't it be incredible to be really really fearless? Psycho fearless and full of faith? I know every teenager is fearless! They are also invincible! I used to be that way. Not by a long shot now. I have eaten some of life's unfairness and brutal realities. I'm sure you have too!

Jesus knew all about these deep concerns and worrys when he sat down on a hill long ago and told a broken group of poor people how to live their lives. Jesus knows your heart. He knows your hurts and pain. Jesus knows why you are the way you are from something that happened to you as a child. Jesus knows your worrys and fears. There is no hiding them from Him. And He wants us to lay them upon Him.

Jesus tried to encourage those poor people and He wants you to be encouraged today with these words found in Matthew, Chapter 6:25-33:

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

May God allow each you to know Him through His Son!
God bless.

Welcoming Trevor Calev Baird

On September 13th, we welcomed our newest family member into the world. Trevor "Calev" Baird was born early this morning to Joel & Chelsea Baird of Woodstock, IL. The scheduled arrival of our seventh grandchild and very first-est grandson went as planned. Trevor "Calev" Baird has been well received as a new little brother for Javey.

Though his first name is Trevor, he will be called about 14 different variations of Calev. Born early this morning, Calev is a healthy 7lbs, 6oz and is certainly something to see. Calev is the fourth Trevor in a line of Trevor Bairds that extends the last 80 years ... but now, God has allowed us to hold our very first American-born Trevor.

God's love, grace and mercy has once again been showered upon the Baird family of Woodstock. We have seen the goodness of the Lord and want to thank Him for the safe arrival of Calev and for His blessing of another grandchild. I am "PoP PoP" to the max today.

May the Lord of life guide you, Joel and Chelsea as you begin this new adventure of raising Calev! May God be glorified in Calev's life and through yours as you and begin a house of four-zeees!

Where Were You August 9, 1974

From steps leading into this helicopter, Richard Nixon turned and bid farewell on a sad departing from the presidency on August 9, 1974. Perhaps, you recall his raised hands saying goodbye to a nation rightly disillusioned with politics. This was an American political low period ... from a public servant and to many, a good human being. This was a tradgic day among his victories. On Richard Nixon's grave it simply reads: "The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of Peacemaker".
